Vehicle Shipping Advice

Our rich history as vehicle importers allows us to help you make informed decisions. We will advise you on all documentation requirements needed to transport your goods. Universal Customs Brokers can also prepare and lodge all the required documentation with the Department of Transport and also liaise on your behalf.

It is imperative that Import Approval from the Department of Planning and Infrastructure is received prior to shipping vehicles including cars, trailers, scooters, segways, motorbikes or any other on road or off-road vehicles.
Failure to ship vehicles without approval from the Department of Transport could result in fines or even refusal, which would mean the vehicle would have to be shipped back out of Australia.

Motorcycle Freight and Car Imports

There are strict criteria for importing vehicles. If the motor vehicle is older than 30 years, there is no import duty. There will however be import GST of 10%. Importing brand new cars is difficult and usually not permitted.

Before you can ship the car to Australia, you will need to apply and receive an import permit from The Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development.

Please note: If your car has an air-conditioner; you will need to liaise with the Department of the Environment.

Caravan Freight

Before you can ship the caravan to Australia, you will require an import permit from The Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development. Caravans must comply with Australian standards for weights, lengths, height and hitch types.

Please note: If your caravan has an air-conditioner; you will require a license with the Department of the Environment.
